"Both of the classes I’ve taken from Greg (this and Metaphysics) have been among some of the most well-taught and highest quality classes that I have taken...—not just in the philosophy department, but flat out.  I consider myself exceptionally fortunate for having been one of Greg’s students… Greg is an extremely patient and articulate teacher who excels at making even extremely difficult concepts in philosophy accessible for practically every student, regardless of their background."
--Anonymous Student Evaluation Comment
My teaching efforts are focused on helping my students improve their philosophical abilities. I capture student interest by introducing philosophical ideas through contemporary issues and by creating a class environment in which students actively practice philosophy. As a teacher, my main source of pride comes from helping students produce excellent work. Former students continue to contact me for help with ongoing research projects that started in my classes.

I have been teaching online and hybrid courses for several years. Non-traditional learning environments are for many students a more effective way to learn compared with a traditional face-to-face classroom environment. In the fall semester of 2018 I launched the first tech-enhanced courses ever offered by the Department of English and Humanities at York College of Pennsylvania.

I have taught philosophy since 2012 at four institutions: York College of Pennsylvania, University of Idaho, University of Iowa, and Kirkwood Community College. I have taught upper-level Epistemology and Metaphysics courses with a substantial amount of Philosophy of Language included, a lower-level Epistemology and Metaphysics (single) course, Environmental Philosophy, a First-Year Seminar course on rational decision making, Critical Thinking and Logic, Introduction to Philosophy, and Introduction to Ethics. I strive to continue to improve my teaching, which is why I never teach a course the exact same way twice.

Below you will find all of the student evaluations that have been collected for the courses that I have taught.

Kirkwood Community College

Some of the evaluation forms below were collected for courses taught in non-traditional ways. I mention it because the method of course delivery can affect the questions that students are asked and can help make sense of written responses. My CV details each course I have taught and the method of delivery used to teach it.

Kirkwood does not uniformly collect student evaluation data. I have included all of the records that I have below.
